An edition of 150 with 15 artist's proofs. Printed in 6 colours, signed and numbered by the artist in 1989 at Lowick House Print Workshop, Cumbria, UK on John Purcell, 285gsm mould-made 100% rag paper.
'Raven' depicts a bird perched on top of a hawthorn tree and screaming into the wind. I made this print in 1989 but since that date both the raven and the hawthorn have reappeared in many of my pictures.
In mythology the raven is seen in contradictory ways being a harbinger of both luck and foreboding. It is a playful and gregarious bird but it is not uncommon to see them alone. All these aspects allow for a great many metaphorical possibilities for the artist.
