An edition of 85 with 20 artist's proofs, printed, signed and numbered by the artist in 2010 at Blencarn, Cumbria on John Purcell 285gsm mould made 100% rag paper.
When making a charcoal study for this lithograph I thought I'd try to add a puddle of charcoal and water as something for the dog to sniff at. Well, it turned into an ugly mess. I liked the drawing of the dog itself so, to hide the 'error', I stuck on (added) a triangle of paper to the bottom right of the drawing. This was perfect. The diagonal line of the second piece of paper added a dynamism to picture and it also suggested a point of interest for the dog. This was a nice formal solution to the problem which liked so much that I continued the idea with the lithograph and added a second sheet of paper to each print.
Unfortunately, this glued-on second sheet of paper means that I'm unable to roll-up this print and send it out unframed in a tube. However, it is available both mounted and framed.
